SO... YOU WANT TO REMOVE SOME TREE STUMPS?
That’s great!…
But where do you start? Do you:
- Dive into your shed (or swing by Bunnings) for the axe and tackle that stump solo like a 19th century pioneer?
- Google “stump grinder for hire near me” and pray you don’t fling a rock into the windshield of your wife’s car when using it?
- Get enough fuel from the servo to cross the Nullarbor, invite your friends over, and have a “Burning Man Stump” party?
- Or drill a bunch of holes in it, fill them with poison, and leave it rot for several years... all because your father-in-law “read about it in an article on stump removal from the 60's”?
“Arrgghhh!” you scream, overwhelmed and frustrated. “There’s so many options!”
And that’s without considering professional help!
Maybe you’ve thought about seeking recommendations from the local community groups on Facebook?
“Oh I know!” you exclaim, suddenly remembering that time a few months back when your neighbour hired some bloke to take care of some stumps in his front yard… “Maybe he’s still got their business card?”
Sure, diligent Google research and scouring reviews at 3 in the morning can seem like a way out, but it’s certainly no guarantee…
Consider this:
What if you hire someone and they don’t turn up on time?
It’s one thing to rock up late, but it’s another to arrive so early you’ve barely got your robe on when you meet them at the door!
What if they leave behind a mess?
Or they only remove enough of the stump to hide it just below ground level, when the whole reason you wanted it gone was to make way for a new landscaping project or house extension?
All of a sudden weeks have passed, the contractors are on-site, and what was supposed to be a cruisy house extension or new fence is stopped in its tracks when THUD!... the pile driver hits that stump…
And before they can continue, you’ve got to get the stumpie out again to do the job properly, or more annoying yet, go through the process of choosing a new one all over again!
Costing you at least double the money…
Triple the time…
And at least five times as many headaches as you deserve.
Maybe you don’t care about any of this, but wouldn’t you prefer to be asked?
Rather than hiring some cowboy who tries to calm you down with a mumbled “she be right, mate” and a grin that isn’t fooling anyone?

As mentioned above, our minimum charge ranges from $200 - 750, depending on the service tier, though an accurate quote for your project would require a discussion to determine the answers to the following questions:
1. How big the stumps are.
2. What kind of wood they are (hardwood / softwood.)
3. Where they are located on the property and how difficult it is to reach them.
4. Whether or not there are underground services in close proximity.
5. Presence of other dangers, such as frequent rock deposits or foreign debris in the soil.
Having read this, you may consider the option to remove the stump by hand, hire a machine to grind it away yourself, or just poison / burn it.
While these options, at face value, seem free - their cost can quickly stack, and to consider them completely free is a false economy. You either pay for them with money, or you pay for them with time / less benefits. There is nothing wrong with this, of course, but it is a good idea to weigh up the options completely, with as much information as possible, to make an informed decision which makes the most sense for you.
For example, if you remove a tree stump by hand... where do you dispose of it? Can you lift it into the vehicle or skip bin to do so? Bear in mind, the cost to dispose of it legally can be as much or even more than professional stump removal services PLUS the blood, sweat, and back-breaking tears of having removed it by hand.
No, we do not take responsibility for the removal of the stump “grindings” / mulch.
Depending on which service you choose, we will either neatly pile the dirt and mulch over the site of the removed stump, or we will use a skid-steer (small earth-moving machine) to transfer it to an area on your property of your choosing (within reasonable distance.)
Should you wish to have the mulch removed from your property, we can organise a skip-bin to be delivered and removed on or around the day of our works, which we will then fill with the mulch. Keep in mind, however, that this will obviously incur an additional fee.
It is important to know that wood chips produced from stump grinding makes for fantastic mulch; however, you would do well to leave it for 10 - 14 days before planting in it, to allow for any necessary natural processes to take place that might otherwise harm growing trees or plants.
As a general rule, we do not remove all of the roots when removing a tree stump, and instead opt for a 50 - 60 centimetre radius around the stump.
If this is a concern, please raise it in our discussions and we can determine the best course of action.
In many cases, it is not advisable to “chase the roots”, as it will invariably require damaging the roots of nearby trees at the same time, which could cause issues in the future, and the responsibility of which would land on the client’s shoulders.
No, we do not offer a ‘dry-hire’ service.
The process would be too complicated and fraught with risk to make it either a sound business decision for us, or valuable enough to our clients.
However, if you are interested in hiring a stump grinder (machine used to remove tree stumps efficiently and effectively), do not hesitate to contact us for any advice you may be looking for, such as: where to hire, what to hire, for how long, and any tips for operation, etc.
